Drum Roll Please...

MY FIRST BLOG POST!

This has certainly been a long time coming. I've officially "owned" this blog for weeks, and I have finally deemed it the right time for my first post. So here goes.

I'M HERE!! So exciting. These past 24 hours have been filled with nerves, anxiety, and  unfortunately little sleep. Yesterday, my family and I went to one of my favorite places to eat in Columbus, Mozart's Cafe on High Street, before they dropped me off at the airport at about noon yesterday.

After some very difficult goodbyes, I was off to JFK, London, and finally Milan at approximately 10:30 this morning (Milan time). I was lucky enough to have a window seat during all three of my flights, which gave me the opportunity to snap these pictures of the Alps:

So beautiful.

At the Malpensa airport, I overheard (read: eavesdropped) a couple of other students discussing Bocconi and Arco (the dorm where I am living), so I joined the conversation and ended up having a posse on the train and a shared taxi tab. Lucky girl. This afternoon, I took an unplanned 4 hour nap in my new room and unpacked all of my things. Seeing that it is 10 o'clock here right now and I have class tomorrow, exploring will need to be postponed until a later date. From what I saw of Milan from the taxi window, it is absolutely stunning; cobbled streets, old buildings, piazzas, tiny cars, and vespas are everywhere. I'm just nervous because my Italian is a bit rusty. And these people talk fast.

And now, I will leave you with something to ponder that I have been telling myself since I left home:

"It is only in adventure that people succeed in knowing themselves- in finding themselves."
Andre Gide

Thanks for reading my very first blog post- I promise it will be more fun in the future. I just haven't had the time to pull out my camera and take pictures.

Yours,
A
